I was a working student at a local lesson barn at the age of 11. This gave me invaluable knowledge that still
serves me well today. Horses are a privilege, not a right. They're too expensive to be taken lightly. Riding is
fun, but also a lot of hard work and sometimes, it's heartbreaking. Horses teach responsibility, work ethic and
good sportsmanship and can give you a great sense of pride and accomplishment.

My students are expected to take proper care of the horses and ponies at all times....grooming before AND
after riding, cooling out after riding and no harsh or abusive riding/handling.

Not everyone learns the same way, so I find what works for each rider, whether it's just consistent practice,
games, visualization or a combination of the three. Lesson focus also depends what the rider's goals are.
Horses and ponies are matched to riders on a suitability basis for safety reasons.

Lessons are available for riders age 3 and up. Lessons for 3 to 6 year olds are private, on the lead or lunge
line and a half hour in length. Riders 7 and up can choose private or semi-private lessons, a half hour or hour
in length.

Riders under the age of 18, MUST purchase and wear an ASTM approved riding helmet at all times when
mounted. These can be purchased reasonably at Fleet Farm or any of the local tack shops. All riders must
wear long pants and hard-soled boots with a heel when mounted.

Full and partial leases are available on a limited basis. Lease fee include all necessary tack, vet work, farrier,
deworming and board. All lessees are expected to take proper care of the horses and ponies at all
times....grooming before AND after riding, cooling out after riding and no harsh or abusive riding or handling.
Two paid lessons are required before a lease agreement is signed to assess a prospective lessee's riding ability.
Horses and ponies are then assigned according to suitability for safety reasons. It is highly recommended all
lessees participate in our lesson program as well. Lessons are required if a lessee plans on showing.
